紅橡木皮深受市場歡迎

美國東部各地天然木材分布廣泛。常被用加工成天然木皮供家具和裝飾使用。橡木是東部闊葉木林樹種之中，品種數目最多的樹種。紅橡樹的數目比白橡樹更多。紅橡樹有許多品種，其中大約有八種是商用樹木。

紅橡木皮

紅橡木皮的邊材為白色至淺棕色，心材粉紅棕色。紅橡木皮的外觀通常與白橡木皮極為相似，但是因為木髓射線較細木紋顯著性稍遜。紅橡木絕大部分為直紋，紋理粗糙。紅橡樹國秋天時樹葉變紅而得其名稱。南方紅橡顏色偏紅，有色差，適合做較深涂裝產品。北方紅橡顏色偏淺紅，偏白，且顏色均勻。適合做淺色產品。通常按產地分類并分南、北材出售，價格相差較大。

紅橡木皮的主要用于建筑材料、家具、地板、室內建筑設計室內細木工制品及花邊、門、櫥柜、鑲板、棺材及吊桶。不適宜用作緊密配合木材等。

紅橡木皮的機械加工性能良好，雖然建議先行鉆孔但其釘子及螺釘固定性能良好，染色及拋光后能獲得良好表面，干燥緩慢且易開裂及翹曲，收縮率大性能易變化。

紅橡木有很好的物理性能，木質堅硬沉重，具有中等抗彎曲強度及剛性，斷裂強度高，具有極好的抗蒸汽彎曲性能。南方紅橡生長比北方紅橡迅速，且木質較硬及較重。
